Wood Products Disclaimer
Wood is a natural material which exhibits variations in grain, texture and color. Finished products may vary from sample to sample and an exact match cannot be guaranteed. Natural aging and exposure to light will also change the color of finished wood. Printed colors may vary – actual samples are available upon request. Oak Street Manufacturing uses Red Oak, Flat Cut, Plank-Matched veneer.
- It features the bold, arched “cathedral” grain of plain-sliced red oak, assembled from carefully selected, varying planks to create a rustic, multi-board appearance.
- Plank matching arranges dissimilar leaves (varying in width, color, or grain) in a specific order. This method replicates the look of individual solid wood planks joined together, giving it a highly authentic and slightly rustic appearance.
- “Consistently inconsistent” is a good way to describe plank match because patterns to not repeat.
A stain match in a natural product is almost impossible unless the lighting is exactly the same, humidity is the same, sanded in the exact same way, same finish and the wood was harvested from the same area at the same time. Oak Street has no way of duplicating all those variables to the level to achieve an exact match. That’s why every wood table top company has the same disclaimer about stain matches. No two pieces of wood stain the same even with the same stain. Variables:
- Temperature – wood will stain differently in the summer than the winter
- Humidity
- Where the wood was sourced from
- Soil it was grown in
- How it was sanded (veneer is sanded even before Oak Street receives) and it may be sanded slightly different from one person to the next.
- Age of stain – ex. 2yr old tables will have naturally changed over time from when they were originally received (UV light, cleaning over time, etc.).
Special note of caution: all wood products are sensitive to humidity. It’s the customer’s responsibility to maintain a 30% humidity level to accommodate wood products, including table tops. Special care is required for venues utilizing overhead doors due to fluctuating humidity levels. Please contact your Oak Street representative with any requests involving overhead doors and other similar open-air venues to discuss options and/or special care requirements.

Wood Stain Sample Swatch Info
There is no charge for wood stain sample swatches. However, we ask that requests be limited to a reasonable volume of samples per project. Using the specifications and images available, please restrict to a focused selection meeting project requirements.
Stain sample sizes range from 2″ x 2″ to 3″ x 3″ and is only the top veneer layer (approx. 1/4″ thick). It is not an entire piece of a table top.
Wood Care Instructions
- Gently cleanse with a soft cloth damped with mild detergent & water solution. Wipe dry with a clean soft cloth. Scratches in wood can be repaired using a colored wax repair stick.
- Spills of liquid should be wiped dry immediately. Do not use ammonia, bleach, degreasers or abrasive cleaners. Avoid prolonged or excessive exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures, high or low humidity. Improper care will void the manufacturer’s warranty.
- Installing new china dinnerware with unglazed feet, please check the bottom of the product carefully for sharp or rough edges, as these can mar the surface of the table top & void the manufacturer’s warranty.

- Spider attaches to table top with (8) 3/4″ – #10 screws
- Oak Street’s tube/spider feature a welded anchor plate at the bottom of tube. The anchor plate also has a welded nut on back of anchor plate.
- A short bolt with both flat & lock washer is screwed through the foot and into the welded anchor plate. This is a much improved method than competitors, which use a long rod that will torque & stretch when force is applied – making it permanently loose.
- Oak Street’s spiders are bigger than most competitors – providing additional strength & durability
- The spider is also welded to the tube
- Oak Street’s base bottoms feature welded glide tabs with hollow back – not possible with cast iron bases – drastically reducing the chances of having a bad tab for leveling glides
